With the ever changing world, self-reliance is the key for success. World is thirsty for self-reliance. Economic slowdown, uncertainties in the job market lead us to think in this arena. To address the need of inculcation of research innovation and entrepreneurial culture in our Institute, Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering Lavale (BVCOEL), Pune had taken several steps in this regard. BVCOEL had set-up SPPU E-cell, MHRD Institutions’ Innovation Council (IIC) which is an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India to systematically foster the culture of Innovation among all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), under the research, innovation and entrepreneurship cell.

BVCOEL research, innovation and entrepreneurship cell deliberated on various areas for nurturing the innovation and start-up culture in the Institute which covered mentoring, guidance, product development, research and innovation, intellectual property, ownership, technology transfer, commercialization, etc. The institute had organized and conducted around hundreds of activities to nurture young minds. The institute had setup certain guidelines for various aspects related to innovation, start-up and entrepreneurship management.

BVCOEL research, innovation and entrepreneurship cell is always devoted to motivate students by carrying out various, research, innovations entrepreneurial activities and events. The primary focus of this cell is to provide the platform to students of BVCOEL to develop start-up skills and structuring their thoughts in the all arenas of entrepreneurship which can help them to translate their innovative and creative ideas into a reality. It enables them to embark on the journey of research, innovation, entrepreneurship.

Objectives

Objectives:

1. To develop an ecosystem that foster research, innovation entrepreneurial spirit among the students.
2. To create opportunities for interaction with aspiring entrepreneurs and researchers.
3. To provide a podium for inculcating entrepreneur and research skills in students.
4. To create independent business entities out of interested students so that they not only become self-employed but also become capable of providing gainful, fulfilling employment to others and thereby benefiting society at large.
5. Cell aims to ignite creative thinking and nurture research, innovation entrepreneurial instincts in students
6. Cell encourages more students from the colleges to become self-employed and start their own firm by transforming their ideas into an enterprise.
7. Resource mobilization plan has been worked out at the institute for supporting pre-incubation, incubation infrastructure and facilities.
8. Creating an environment for technology enabled leaning and supporting research.
9. It describes how the culture of research is to be adopted.

Context:

A New Research, Innovation and entrepreneurship cell have R & D cell, IPR cell, E-cell and MHRD IIC.

1. R&D cell, IPR cell: Bharati Vidyapeeth’s college of Engineering, Lavale, Pune is planning to improve and then excel in the domain of Research, in order to achieve the set milestones, we need to focus our attention on multiple dimensions viz, interdisciplinary research, Intellectual Property Rights. Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering Lavale, Pune is providing advanced research and innovation based knowledge by pitching the power of coming generation. To leverage the capability in the field of research and innovation, our faculty members is motivating and guiding students.
2. E-cell was established within the framework and guidelines as stipulated by SPPU Pune. A New Startup and innovation cell was established dated 01/January/2019 at BVCOEL and composition of the cell are as per the guidelines of innovation and incubation center of SPPU.
3. The MHRD IIC Cell aims to ignite creative thinking and nurture entrepreneurial instincts in students. The Cell hopes to achieve this by conducting stimulating workshops, competitions and interactive sessions with eminent personalities who are role models when it comes to business development.

• BVCOEL continuously supporting pre-incubation and incubation facilities in the campus for nurturing innovations and startups
• Innovation and research is the need of the hour and we are promoting innovation, patents filing and research for establishment of new enterprises.
• We are motivating students for INNOVATION which leads to ENTREPRISES and finally leads to FINANCIAL SUCCESS.
• We have established pre-incubation facilities by establishing MHRD’s Innovation Cell, SPPU E-Cell, Student Clubs, etc.
• This Pre-Incubation/Incubation facility is accessible 24x7 to students and faculty member of all disciplines and departments across the institution.

Annual Performance Rating of Institutions’ Innovation Council in HEIs

At Annual Performance Rating of Institutions’ Innovation Council in HEIs for the IIC2.0 calendar year (2019-20), our college had secured 4.5 stars out of 5. About 1701 IIC councils, 28 states and 5 union territories had participated in 2019-20. Within a short span of only one year, the college is able to achieve such a great height. It is an astonishing achievement for the college to set such a milestone in its debut year in IICs. This was only possible due to the excellent guidance and support from Principal Dr. R. N. Patil. Dr. Nidhi Jain, Convener MHRD IIC, and other committee played a critical role in achieving this success.
